Professor Agnieszka Wierzbowska

Agnieszka Wierzbowska is Professor of Hematology at the University of Lodz, and Copernicus Memorial Hospital, Lodz, Poland.

Prof. Wierzobowska gained her first and second degree in Internal Medicine in 1997 and 2001 respectively. In 2016, she became a Professor of Medicine at the Medical University of Lodz. Her main research interests are in developmental therapeutics for acute leukemia and myelodysplastic syndrome.

Prof. Wierzbowska has served as the principal investigator on many clinical trials and has authored and co-authored numerous publications and abstracts. She is the Associate Editor of Haematologica and Acta Haematologica and has played an active role as a speaker and panelist at numerous regional, national, and international conferences.

Prof. Wierzbowska is a member of many professional societies including the Polish Society of Hematology and Transfusion and the European Group of Bone Marrow Transplantation. She is the leader of the AML Working Group of Polish Adult Leukemia Group.

In 1994, Prof. Wierzbowska was awarded Outstanding Young Faculty Award, Medical University, Lodz, Poland. She has also been awarded multiple times the Award of Minister of Health and Award of Rector of Medical University of Lodz. In 2008, she was awarded Excellence in teaching, Medical University of Lodz.
