Appitha Eakin

Associate Medical Writer

London

Following her degree in Biomedical Sciences at King’s College, Appitha decided to pursue a Masters in Translational Cancer of Medicine, which enabled her to hone her two key interests of scientific research and oncology. The next natural transition was to pursue a PhD, and Appitha’s project, which she also undertook at King’s College, focussed on Breast Cancer Biology & imaging. During her PhD she collaborated with GE Healthcare based in Amersham and gained an insight into working with Pharma. She also developed a strong interest in writing having published her own first author manuscript with pre-clinical data generated during her time at GE Healthcare. She established her enjoyment of writing during the process of writing her thesis, and therefore chose to pursue a career in medical communications. Appitha currently writes and researches across the Multiple Myeloma Hub, the Lymphoma Hub and the AML Global Portal.
