Musa Yilmaz | ASCO 2018 | Can relapse occur in AML patients after a long period of remission?


Relapse can occur late after long remissions in acute myeloid leukemia (AML), however, the clonal evolution pattern is not known. At the 2018 American Society of Oncology Annual Meeting, Musa  Yilmaz from the MD Anderson Cancer Center, discussed a gene sequencing analysis which showed that the founding leukemic clone persists after chemotherapy and establishes the basis of relapse years later in AML.
